The Tappan Zee Bridge

The Tappan Zee Bridge

The Tappan Zee Bridge Spans one of the widest sections of the Hudson River and was opened to traffic in 1955. It connects Westchester County with Rockland County and is a significant because it is Interstate 87/287's Hudson River Crossing. The bridge actually floats and pontoons and is slated to be replaced by The New York Thruway authority at great expense. There has been some public debate as to what the best replacement for the Tappan Zee Bridge would be. The new bridge is expected to be completed in 2017.
